I enjoy my using art to convey a powerful message.
“Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter. “
Martin Luther King, Jr.
SpeakOUT is a (fictional) Non-Government Organization commited to encouraging minorities to voice their opinions, seek help, and boost confidence and self-esteem. Our mission is to liberate those who have so long been silenced by fear. We believe that through our unity, we will achieve a society in which the presence of minorities will be heard, and their voices will no longer be suppressed.
Playing off of the fact that the (fictional) band members of Colorblind are in fact colorblind, I used the Ishihara test as the main focus of the album cover design for their new album, “People of No Color.” I then replaced the typical orange and green dots with colorized images of the eigenface, or the average male and female face. When viewed by a colorblind person, the text, ‘NO COLOR’ is not visible. In essence, my album cover design is intended to convey the idea that though each eigenface is of a different color, we should look past the superficial and view people through the eyes of the Colorblind, for at the fundamental level, people truly are of no color.
“Love is a symbol of eternity. It wipes out all sense of time, destroying all memory of a beginning and all fear of an end.”
In this design, I hoped to parallel the content of a love letter with the form of the text. The strength of love can be seen as analagous to that of a rope binding two individuals together as one for eterntiy.
A business card is meant to be a snapshot representation of an individual. With my design, I hope to convey vital contact information in an appealing manner that allows my card to stand out amongst others. The striking contrast between the white font and black background first draws attention to the concentrated composition of typographic elements, the card holder to then read the text.
